Mon 25 Nov

Sorry for delay; been busy.

FRI 22 NOV

The English chaps have been building the brick piers for the back wall, either side of the bifolding doors; when finished and set, the steel beam will rest on these.

Meanwhile, Pawel's been flooring the utility...

...and creating the skeleton of the cloakroom walls.

SAT 23 NOV

Overtime for the English, finishing those piers. (The Poles habitually work Saturdays anyway.)

The piers did eventually get finished, although that steel still isn't in, and that wall's still up...

SUN 24 NOV

An afternoon at the house. Lizzie, Nat and Ella gloss painting bedrooms:

...and Gary in the loft, removing the 45-year-old dust-encrusted insulation, hoovering and laying new lagging.

MON 25 NOV

Back to the house... and the first thing you see is the new windows on the ground floor front. Here's the garage – or kids' lounge, or den, or cinema room – which doesn't yet have the glass...

...but its mate across the way, the music room/library, does.

There's also new windows in the master...

...and en-suite.

On the irksome side, that wall's still there...

...but on the other (kitchen) side, visible evidence that they've started supporting the weight of the house preparatory to the steel going in.

That steel may or may not go in tomorrow, when we get the bifolding doors at the back. They are the key point of the house, and the suppliers are notoriously picky, so it'll be a nervous day, but we'll both be on site (and busy: Lizzie gloss painting, Gary completing the loft lagging and boarding for storage).

Hopefully we'll see the bifolds go in, and that will be more or less the end of the 'external' work: from there, it's internal polish – admittedly, some major polish, including knocking down a supporting wall and building a cloakroom, but internal stuff nonetheless. Here's hoping...
