CLANG. ERROR. Updating the ground-floor plans on the Sunday night to give the builders an updated layout, we note that the Ikea design we've ordered doesn't quite fit the floorplan. Cue dash round and re-measure, followed by a hasty redesign of the kitchen. Which means going back to Ikea to fully redesign it... and then spending an hour on hold to their distribution centre to reorder it. Oh well.

And then, job done, back round to the house to check on progress. And looky here, there's a huge hole in the floor...

That's the waste trench for the new downstairs 'cloakroom', as euphemists call it.

Note the massive chunks of concrete taken out. Bet THAT was a quiet job.

Comical Toilet update: cistern gone, just the pan remaining.

That's the big change today, but the other crew have been busy moving a heating vent, as requested (the existing one - now blocked up on the right - was going across where the new kitchen door will be).

They've also moved a vent above the front door, which seemed mysteriously uncalled for, but investigation upstairs revealed that the existing vent was uncomfortably near a new spotlight-wiring highway. Fair enough, then.
